Mr. Ennett’s Teaching Philosophy

All students can learn. They learn the best in a safe and positive environment that emphasizes mastery of content. Teachers should view student learning as their product. In order to maximize learning, teachers should develop lessons that meet the needs of all students. Teachers should also plan and prepare to maximize students learning time. Teachers should always continue to grow professionally by continuing education and reflecting upon their daily lessons. Teachers should expect students get as much out of learning as a teacher puts into teaching.

Social studies education creates well-rounded students. It is essential in a democratic nation for students to learn about the world around them. Social studies provide students with the opportunity to learn about themes and elements that will motivate them to be informed citizens. Informed citizens are much more likely to be empathetic towards various cultures within the United States and become involved in their communities. In addition to civic and global understanding; students become more proficient in reading, writing, research and critical thinking.
