Digital Video Process

The goal:  Create a Digital Video in the "Movie Trailer Genre."

The Process:  Follow these steps to create your own Digital Video!

Step 1:    to view Mr. Ennett's Digital Video example.

Step 2:  Create a script or outline of what you want to do.

The following questions may help you get started:
What is your main idea?
What is the question you are going to answer through your video?
How can you answer this question with video, photographs, text, and sound?
What category of movie trailer are you creating?  Comedy, Drama, Horror, Documentary?

Step 3:  Establish roles in your group.  The following roles will help you manage your workload.

Go to fullsize imageActor/Actress:
Appears in the film.  Responsible for using body language, voice, movements that help to convey meaning.

Go to fullsize imageCameraman/woman:
Records the actors/actresses as well as other scenes that convey meaning.  Also responsible for uploading the video into Imovie.

Go to fullsize image Editor/Researcher:
Mainly responsible for the appearance, sound, and overall quality of the film.  This person may search for music, video, and images while the group films.  This is a huge responsibility!

Go to fullsize imageDirector:
Helps to ensure that everyone is on task.  As a director, you must be the brains of the operation and think one step ahead at all times.

You may find it most beneficial to take more than one role.

Step 4:  Begin by reviewing the rubric.  Are you going to strive for excellence?  Your video will be successful if you use this as a guide.  It will also maximize your learning experience.

Step 5:  What are you waiting for?  Start planning and preparing to pitch your idea!  Once you have pitched your idea, I will provide you with a camera and you can begin with your roles.  There is plenty to do if the camera is being used.  You can rehearse, help other groups if they need additional actors, or download images, music, etc.

Step 6:  Once you have recorded, uploaded, and edited, be sure to check the rubric one more time so that you receive full credit.  Now you can export your movie to the desktop and email to me.
